Read the metrics with context.
Success rate
The share of measured plays considered successful under the provider’s down-and-distance rules. Higher offensive success rate generally indicates greater consistency. For defense, the number represents opponent success, so lower is better.
Predicted points added (PPA)
The provider’s estimate of the change in scoring value created by a play. The table shows average PPA per play. Defensive values describe what opponents produced.
Explosiveness and situational splits
Explosiveness describes the value of successful plays under the provider’s model. Rushing, passing, standard-down and passing-down splits use the same source methodology. These metrics depend on play availability and provider filters, so compare teams within the same season and source.
